Democratic Bridge - Caecilia Wijgers, Volker Pellet Ingemar Cederberg and foreign diplomats were most notable for its humanitarian work in Cuba until 2009 and 2010, according to inquiries made by the Center for the Opening and Development of Latin America (CADAL) to a total of 135 concerning the Cuban civic movement between September and November this year.
Having completed its mission in Havana, on the International Day of Human Rights, Wijgers, Cederberg and Pellet receive the Award for Committed Diplomacy in Cuba 2009-2010. The Award is an initiative of CADAL that highlights the work of foreign diplomats accredited in Havana, recognizing those who during their mission has been characterized by providing demonstrations of solidarity toward the Democrats on the island and committed actions against violations human rights in that country.
The granting of this award included a broad participation of Cuban democrats, including "Las Damas de Blanco, Oswaldo Payá, Yoani Sánchez, Vladimiro Roca, Elizardo Sánchez, René Gómez Marzano, Guillermo Fariñas, Dagoberto Valdes and Felix Bonne Carcasses. It also had a geographical representation included Havana, Camagüey, Guantánamo, Villa Clara, Sancti Spiritus, Holguin, Pinar del Rio, Matanzas, Las Tunas, Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba.
In all, 16 nominees for foreign diplomats in Cuba, from the following countries: Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Spain, USA, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic and Canada. No set limits on the number of nominations by participants, the representative of the Netherlands received 85 votes, Sweden 43 and Germany 29.
The selection of prize winners took into account the number of votes received by diplomats and have been nominated by various groups. The award, consisting of a board is contingent on its acceptance by the winner or their respective diplomatic Ministry, having this time with the agreement of all of them.

Wijgers Caecilia (Netherlands). born in 1967. Works for the Dutch Foreign Ministry. He studied public administration with a specialization in international law at Leiden, Netherlands. He began his career as a consultant to the European Commission in Riga, Latvia in 1992. After being admitted to the Dutch Foreign Ministry received a two-year seat in The Hague. From 1998 onwards he served alternately as a political adviser and human rights in the Dutch Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. Then as first secretary in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, followed by four years as deputy for mission in Havana, Cuba. He is currently Deputy Director of the UN political division of the Dutch Ministry in The Hague. She is married and has three children. 
Ingemar Cederberg (Sweden). born in 1943. Educated at the University of Lund, Sweden, between 1963 and 70 for BA in English and English and social sciences.
