Responding to questions from correspondents, I can report the following:
Around 9 am on Thursday 13/01/2011, Ms. Roberta Jacobson, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Department of State U.S. for the Western Hemisphere and his delegation, present in Cuba, met with some human rights activists and pro-democracy Cubans in the headquarters of the U.S. Mission in Cuba.
The exchange of views took place in an atmosphere of closeness and trust that prefigure the excellent relations of respect, good neighborliness will inevitably be rebuilt between the two nations.
pro-democracy activists present were: Wilfredo Vallin, Dagoberto Valdés, Elizardo Sanchez Santa Cruz, Marta Beatriz Roque, Arnaldo Ramos, Laura Pollan, Hector Palacios Ruiz, Jorge Olivera, Darsi Ferrer, Oscar Espinosa, Manuel Cuesta and Felix Bonne.
Ms. Jacobson also was accompanied by senior officials of the Department of State Julissa Reynoso and Peter Brennan and meeting attended by top diplomats of the U.S. mission in Cuba.
The meeting served to the visiting Delegation reiterated the "clear commitment" to the U.S. the cause of human rights and democracy worldwide. Ms. Barbara Estrabao
