VICTIMS OF POLITICAL PURGE CONTINUES IN PRISON, TWO YEARS LATER, under extreme conditions.
The CCDHRN is deeply concerned about the situation of prisoners and RAUL CASTELLANOS HERNANDEZ CONRADO LAGE, engineer and consultant cardiologist, respectively, who spent two years in the hands of the secret political police, without trial and under inhuman conditions of detention.
Our Committee has serious reasons to think that both are confined at the notorious Villa isolation cells Marist, the headquarters of that repressive body.
Hernández (arrested on 14.2.2009) and Castellanos (two or three weeks) are members of the Communist Party of Cuba (until a final decision does not justify their separation) and were imprisoned following the purge, the purest Stalinist style, which became a virtual non-persons to a group of senior national leaders, including Carlos Lage, a cousin of Castro and Vice President (who also presided in fact The Council of Ministers), Felipe Perez Roque, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Fernando Remirez, Secretary of the CC of the PCC and other senior officials.
about two years ago, the leaders of Cuba declared that they were spying "long time" referred to the senior management and Castellanos Hernández and participating with them in private conversations with family and friends, in which criticized certain political decisions of their bosses.
The CCDHRN urges the government of Cuba to immediately release provisional Hernandez and Castellanos, pending the trial against them, thus helping to preserve the physical and especially psychological, both arrested.
The CCDHRN is convinced that Hernandez and Castellanos are not common criminals and are being persecuted for exercising, peacefully, the human right to freedom of opinion, which is also the right to speak privately and dissent from the opinion other officials.
The CCDHRN calls to International Organizations of DD.HH., democratic governments and all people of goodwill who claim the government of Cuba for the immediate release of Hernandez and Castellanos
Lage.
